Whenever I hit the brake pedal I get this metal grinding sound. It isn't a high pitched sound though. Is it the rotors? Brakes?

Also, if it is the brakes and rotors, what kind of brakes and rotors should I get? Can I just go to autozone and buy them or should I order them online?

Sounds like the Pads are finished. You'll need to replace both the pads and the rotors since you let them go so long. OEM is usually the best way to go for brakes.

Never heard of that brand before. I would stick with Brembo blanks and OEM (Akebono, sp?) pads. No noise, long life, and they were made for the car.

I think I will buy the R1 Concepts brake pads and rotors off of ebay. Also, it is not a squelling sound but a grinding sound... So I think my rotors are 100% f$cked.

So does every1 think R1 concepts is good company?

Many of the low density low quality cast iron rotors are warped out of the box before they get installed. The problem is the retail [$100-$150] markup vs wholesale cost [$18-$60]

If noise is a concern the last thing one wants is a drilled or slotted rotor.

Uh, okay, I might have asked this before but what websites sell rotors and pads that are good quality and not to expensive. Also, do you think the local autozone (car parts shop) would have everything I need or do I have to order off of the net?

Check Joe's prices - Everything NissanInfiniti 1-888-216-5328

Ask for the Brembo blanks and OEM pads.

Tell him you're from NICO. He gives us a discount.

You'd be a fool not to take this route.

TR has genuine Brembo rotors also. Get the OEM pads from Joe.

Joe told me Stillen is out of the drilled and plated Brembo rotors business for J30, FY33, and G50.

I bought my rotors from "nopi online", the prices were very good and bought OEM pads from infiniti-parts.com. Autozone will be a crapshoot for rotors and pads will be decent but the price difference between Autozone and OEM on pads is not worth it in my opinion (I've tried both).

Stop driving it. If the grinding just started, you might be able to get away with resurfacing the rotors and changing the pads. If the rotors are too old and thin or warped then it's time to change them too.

I think I will do exactly what you did. I looked up all the parts and the rotors will cost around 100 total on Nopi online and the pads are 140 from infiniti-parts.com. So around 240 plus shipping.

Alright, I replaced/resurfaced all the rotors and replace all the brake pads. Now, why is that only one set of brakes on the left rear rotor were completely worn down? The other pads still had a significant amount of material left on them.

High temperature lubrications on the pins. Make sure they are not corroded.

Once a braking system has seen 100k plus, always consider it may be time to clean up [inside of piston and bore] and replace the piston seals on the calipers....................depending on frequency of fluid exchange.

The shim kits have a finite life, also the flex rubber brake hoses, master cylinder, etc.

Expecting as new published stopping distance depend on the components [tires and brakes] acting as brand new...................this gets more and more difficult as the miles pile up.

A few components each acting at 95% of new can quickly add up to a 125% braking distance! 129 feet new can easily turn into 160 feet.
