I have a three week old Versa SL hatch with ABS and braking at high speeds (and even moderate street speeds) elicits an almost violent shudder of my brakes. Anyone else experiencing this?

Do I just need a simple adjustment? Will my warranty cover this?

Also, is anyone elses Versa tracking way off at highway speeds? Mine is pulling left. Do I have recourse with my dealer?

Basically ANYTHING on a 3-week old car should be covered. Violent shaking during braking could mean you have loose brake parts, or a warped rotor. You don't want to screw around with your brakes possibly not working, get it in ASAP and make them fix it.

[/quote]Mine tracks mildly to the left with my snow tires on, and severely to the left with my summer tires on. If there are ANY grooves in the road, the Versa will track them easily because of the car's track width and relatively light weight.

You could have an alignment issue, though... and this should be covered under the 12 month/12,000 mile "unlimited adjustment" warranty.

Note that ALL FWD cars (except Subarus) will track a little bit to one side, usually the left. This is normal, and due to torque steer. Torque steer occurs because one driveshaft is shorter than the other (and why Subarus are an exception, because they have equal-length shafts)

I am not sure about the brakes, but our car's alignment was off by quite a bit and required a dealer realignment covered by the warranty.

I had the same problem with brake shudder when I got my 08. It had 47 miles on it. The problem went away before I had a chance to take it in. I attributed it to someone testing ABS with full on panic stops before the pads had been bedded in correctly.
