CAR: 1995 240sx SE NO- ABS87,000 miles

When i first start up and drive my car I hear a screeching sound, grating sound, i cant really source it,but i think its my brakes since the way to stop the noise is to step on my brakes, is a caliper sticking or do i just need to upgrade to the Z brakes?!?! hehe the sound seems to happen when the car is cold, and goes away after a while, bu sometimes it just occurs randomly! thanks for all replies!!

well i'vd driven it around a bit more and at this point in time, it sounds like it is coming from the rear, possibly the right rear........

Car: should be obvious enough

well you didnt provide enough information to make a complete analysis, but if i had to guess,

i would say you or whoever replaced your pads last either didnt replace the shims, or you failed to use vibrational isolation silocone if old shims were used.

nothing quite like a sh*tty brake job...

shims are little metal brackets.

since you quoted a problem with your brakesit would be logical to tell people when they were last replaced, and what parts were used.
