Twice in the last two weeks the brakes on our 08 QX56 have had this problem. When slowing the vehicle to pull out of the neighborhood, brakes grab and grind like the ABS is coming on. Seems to only come from one front wheel. If the vehicle is turned off and back on, the brakes operate normally. In a quick google search this seems to be fairly widespread issue with both the Armada and the QX56, including some cases of complete failure! However, I haven't seen much on it here and there doesn't seem to be a consensus on what the correct repair is. Has anyone else experienced this problem and had a successful repair?

Have not heard of that before. I know there is a know issue with the differential needing to be taken aPart and relubricated, and you can hear the grinding when you first take off from a stop. Brakes have been rock solid on models 2008 and newer.

It sounds exactly like the issue early Titans, Armadas and QX56's have had. Not sure if there is a TSB for the 08's but for earlier models, they reprogrammed the ABS module. If you are still under warranty, this should get remedied for free. If not, its relatively inexpensive to have fixed if the fix is the same or similar to earlier models.

Thanks for the response Timmbo and C-Kwik. Here is a link to many of the complaints I found with the same issue. http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2006/inf ... oblem.aspx.
C-Kwik, they do seem to be common in the 2006 models, but not as much in the 08. I am out of warranty, so hoping you are right on the relatively inexpensive repair. I am going to get it to the dealer to check it out. Thanks for the info.
