I have replaced both rear rotors and pads from dealer. The drivers side caliper was replaced with a rebuild due to a frozen slider. I have bled all four corners yet cannot get a firm brake pedal without pumping three times. Any tricks of the trade?

I've never had great success bleeding my own brakes (I'm handy with cars)and considering a shop will charge you $20-$50 for the job I always have it done by a pro.

Good luck.

You mean the caliper pin had no high temperature lubrication?

Vacuum machine with positive brake fluid supply does wonders for keeping air out of system. If you get air in the ABS system, look out!

I assume you have one of those little "one man bleeder kits"? Whcih is basically a plastic bottle with a length of vinyl hose.

Ive bled brakes all the time and never had an issue... What I would do is get one of the quart size bottles of brake fluid and bleed the ENTIRE system really good...

I agree with Wes... do the whole thing, and I would even check on Speedbleeders for your car. http://www.speedbleeder.com I think I saw a pretty good selection at O'Riley's recently. I have also seen them at NAPA in the past.

Also, make sure you review the procedure in the FSM for the order of things. If you don't have one, go to http://www.phatg20.net and download it. Then find some freeware that will decompress .rar files and you're in business!

Let me repeat. Pay someone. Because you own a $30K car, you can afford to pay someone to do it. I agree with all the above quotes-but its tiresome, hard to do perfect and very cheap for someone with a machine.

Honestly I dont like my speed bleeders. Ive had success with bleeding standard bleeders and i dont really see the advantage to speed bleeders. Mine leak a little nad I definitely did not tighten them very tight.

I agree to some extent - but some of this depends on how much you trust "someone" to do it! I have never, ever, not even once - gotten my car back from my local dealership without missing parts or some screw-up that required me to either fix it or take it back. My T3 experiences have been different, but I don't live close enought to ATL to do routine things there.

Granted, I am one of the most picky car people out there - but there is some security knowing that the job is done right. That's why I DIY now. Starting out it was out of lack of funds, now I'm not sure that I'm saving any $$ given the value of my time spent...
