brakes failed help...

So the brake job was done back in June. All summer long they worked without a flaw. Car than was stored from October till about two weeks ago. I drove it just fine till today. All of a sudden today i drive to work 1st stop pedal felt soft, 2nd it just dropped to the floor.It has tiny bit of resistance and barely initiates the brakes.It comes back to normal position.

So i got home and master has no leaks visible. Fluid is at the proper level. With the vehicle off i can pump the pedal stiff and lock the brakes fine. Car running it drops to the floor easily... if at full stop it can somewhat pump it stiff.

No leaks anywhere like the calipers, hoses and lines. So must be my master??? I car hear air like noise when pumping it with the car off.

Anyone had a similar problem ? Also if i get abs master is it the same as non-abs?

Since it was in storage and was working flawlessly before as you said, have you tried bleeding the brakes yet?

Aside from that, when you can "hear air like noise" when pumping it w/ the car off - try this:

1) Make sure car is off2) pump the brakes a couple times, but the last time, hold it down3) is there still air noise after you hold down the brake?

If there is still noise (i.e. sounds like something is leaking from somewhere), check the brake booster, as it may be busted.

my guess would be the brake booster, because it is a vacuum asist. Do what brokeas 240sx says. If there is air in the system there has to be a leak somewhere, but you did find one so i would guess the booster is shot or a loose vacuum hose somewhere.

Too late took master off today. getting a new one tomorrow. booster is assist , so pedal would be real hard if it was not working am i right? This seems more of a matter where master isn't giving enough pressure to engage the caliper.I will put a new master and blled the system tomorow..
