I'm driving a 2000 Nissan Maxima and when the temperature dips below about 8F/-15C the brake pedal doesn't seem to work when I first start up the car and start driving. After the car warms up enough I can drive without having to use a snowbank to stop. Any ideas what the problem might be?

have a mechanic put new brake fluid in your lines. It sounds like there might be alot of water in there.

I had a mechanic check out the brake lines and they couldn't find any problems. They said water wouldn't build up in the fluid, although air in the fluid might be a problem. So I'm out $40 and I'll just have to cross my fingers next time I drive on a cold morning.

I think the synthetic brake fluid will not absorb waterbut the oil based regular fluid will
