Ok so I bought a 2007 Infiniti M35x about two years ago. Lately it seems that when I apply the brakes even moderately the seat belts retract. It seems to happen more often than not and I am not an aggressive driver. It seemed to get worse after i had to slam on my brakes on the highway and the belts retacted. Since then it happens quite a lot. Prior to that it had never happened. Anyone else have this happen and if so how can it be fixed?

Anything seat belt related should go straight to a dealer. There's no time or mileage limitations on seat belt issues, so it's worth a trip to your local Nissan or Infiniti dealer.

If I had to venture a guess, it's probably the brake pressure switch. The car computer probably thinks you're slamming on the brakes, causing the belts to retract. It's by the pedals on the back of the brake one usually...but I agree with AZ, hit up the dealer for this particular issue.

Can we do something about titles like these? "Seat belt problem", "Seat belt tighten issue". Not that difficult. New or not, there should be a policy of no help for titles like this, no excuses.

Great advice from AZ, as usual. (not kissing up, just saying ... LOL). My seat belts retract quite fiercely during rapid deceleration like when a pensioner with 2" thick spectacles pulls out in front of me. That is the ONLY time they should do that far as I am aware. Any trouble at all with seat belts should be addressed at the dealer - under warranty or not, as the seat belts and brakes are among the main things that save your life when needed.
