Well today was the day i wanted to do some stuff to my car. I started out by driving to Plymouth IN, that is a 30 min drive one way mind you, and picked up some 5W30 and a K&N oil filter. Noticed that my front pass side was clunking when I applied and let off the brakes. So i told myself, "self when you get under there, be sure to check all the bolts on the new suspension you just put on to make sure that your toe and sway bar are tight." Well, the oil change was complete and I went on to check the nuts and bolts. But oddly, everything was tight. So i went on to check the brakes. After looking at my pads i noticed that the outer on the pass side looked like this...

so off i went to advance auto to get me some new pads. 30 mins and 50 bucks later i get there and order me the no abs one cause i the vert dosent have abs. 30 mins later im home...... the pads are to small. so 30 mins back i go to get the abs ones. 20 bucks more and 30 mins later im back home and put the new abs pads on the pass side. well i was happy that i learned'd that the verts have abs hardware . so to the drivers side, take everything apart, and ... the pads dont fit!!!. the jack *** before me put non abs hardware on the drivers side!! so that explains why my front pass locked up all the time. so im hopefully picking up a abs bracket and such from Dexter tomorrow. Just have a quick question before i leave,

what is the hardware difference? Caliper, same or diff? i think its the same caliper. Bracket is different.. thats a given. rotor? abs rotor bigger? and if so, can i run no abs rotor with abs bracket? thanks for your imput in advance!! its been along day and i just wanna get it back to normal untill spring. then its all off and the q45s are going on.

the front calipers/pads/rotors are all abs parts. Everything else is non-abs.

Good catch on one side being abs & one side being not - at least you found the problem.

Dexter doesn't have calipers for you?

I should still have my stock vert calipers around my house somewhere - even has some axxiss metal masters or whatever pads w/ the pad hardware on em. you can email me if you are interested in those: powered.by.orange AT gmail DOT com

At least it's good thing this didn't happen to you. It's a famous picture in 3si/3000gt community. Shattered VR4 rotor.

Hard parking?

I think every vert owner at one point in life has bought non-abs pads and realized their mistake. I know I did.

Same here, I made that mistake. Right now though there is a guy down the road from me with a 300 under some weeds I'm trying to get for the brake upgrade and 5 lug conversion.

You can't say that because I have never bought non-abs pads for my vert - I did the good ol' search on the forums before I bought a pair.

Rotor was worn out, but the owner didn't replace it on time. VR4 is a heavy car, so rotor couldn't take the pressure from the caliper.

A part guy at the dealership gave me wrong pads. He learned that vert uses ABS parts because of my car. I had to go back to dealership to get the ABS pads.

Piper is all set. I have all kinds of Nissan calipers laying around from all our various brake caliper fitment experiments. I gave him the set that came off my silvert.

If anyone has some rear calipers with brackets for a 94 pathfinder, I could use those...

get the rear uprights and anything else you think you might use, like the differential, complete rear axle assembly....

the z32 uses a lot of suspension parts that will fit on the s13, so if he will cut you a good enough deal offer to pick up the shell.

the convertible uses the same brake system that is installed on the ABS car, the pads are different the rotors are different the calipers are different the entire brake system has about 10 to 20% more surface area and I can tell you from my legal road racing experience that little game makes a big difference in the quality of your brakes. Looking at your pads I do think your brakes are dragging probably either a sticky brake piston caliper or one of the sliders that the caliper slides on has gotten rusted up and sticking

Well just an update, I changed the caliper and bracket over, and upon looking at the rotors, they are very very very close in size, the abs one is 1/16 wider in diameter. So i saved some money and used that one instead. pads dont hang over or anything. And its alot better now that i have the same size grabbing on both sides. Thanks for the imput guys!!
