Hi, I am new to this board so I am hoping someone can help me out. I have a G35 that I purchased 2 years ago. I LOVE, LOVE my car!! I noticed 2 days ago a strange sound (sorry can't describe it, but not a squeal). Anyway, I took it to a shop yesterday and the guy calls me and says that I need brakes "all the way around" to the tune of $750!! Is this normal?? I thought he may have been trying to rip me off because I am a female.

Anyway, my fiancee said that he can do my brakes since he did his Corvette's. My question is what all do I need? I was thinking of Hawk brake pads, but not sure of what kind of rotors? Thanks for any help you can give me. I truly appreciate it.

Welcome to Nico!!!Coupe or Sedan??First, you might see if the rotors can be turned.Second, do you track the car?I'm just going to assume no.If not, I would recommend getting Napa's best rotors if you can not turn them.

Now for pads.....I'm going to go with Akebono ceramics on my wife's sedan.I might go with Hawk HPS on my coupe - can get from Pep Boys or online.Project Mu is another brand that is very popular here.

I think your BF should not have any troubles. There are Factory Service Manuals here somewhere in PDF....will see if I can find link.

Oh, and don't forget to post an introduction in the G-Series General where we hang out the most!!

Pic of your car would be welcome too!! And a pic of the bf's vette!

When I did my fronts last year I went with Infiniti OEM rotors and Hawk HPS pads. Worked great. No vibrations, no brake dust, with short, quiet stopping distances.

I just bought new pads and rotors for the rear. Can anyone tell me if this job is going to be as straight forward as the fronts were.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
