I'm going to install a new brake wheel cylinder on a 97 Sentra.

I got a 10mm flare nut wrench.

How do I prevent bending the brake line?

How do I prevent cross-threading the fitting?

More importantly,

how do I prevent all that brake fluid from leaking all over?

The hardlines are pretty solid. Just go by feel. If it starts to give, stop torquing it. Use some kind of solvent to try to break down whatever gunk is stuck on it.

With cross threading you just have to be careful. If it starts to feel tight too soon, don't push it. Again, put a solvent on there to break down the gunk.

When disconnecting things on the lines, you're going to end up leaking fluid. There's no real way around it. Get yourself a set of SpeedBleeders (several of our sponsors sell them, I got mine from SPL, best maintenance investment ever) and bleeding them when you inevitably have to top off or, preferably, go ahead and replace the fluid, will be a LOT easier.

Welcome to NICO!
