skyline/silvia/Z32 are the only upgrades for calipers that are relatively cheap....u could also just get some nice OE Brembos with a nice pad like EBC green stuff or metal masters and some stainless lines...

The number of pistons your caliper has does NOT have any real bearing on how well your car stops.

Upgrade your pads to Axxis Ultimates or Hawk HPS and I can almost guarantee you'll be happy with your braking performance.

The bigger advantage of the Z32 upgrade is the larger heat capacity, longer lever arm of the rotor and increase in swept area of the pad.

No need to spend all that money if you aren't really stressing your brake system(and the only way you really stress a brake system is through heat).

The Hawk HPS pads go a long way to improve the breaking on the stock setup. Granted, they won't give you the ability to 'lock up' the brakes at 40mph but for most folks, that's overkill anyway.

that would be a good faq as well, maybe even where to buy different brake kits... i know I am looking to upgrade my brakes and am asking a lot of the questions everyone else seems to be.

ya im with you festino. so the performance pads will do the same as a z32 brake upgrade, as in stoping. how about the life of the rotors and the pads. i would think with 1 piston, like on the stock 240s, the pads would wear down faster? with the piston on one side wouldn't that side get worn down faster?

If set up correctly, a floating caliper should wear pads evenly on both sides. Here's a link to all of our brake offerings:http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?...x.jspI'd check out the Hawk HPS pads and Powerslot rotors.

You might get some slightly uneven wear due to only 1 piston, but it is only with regards to the front and rear of each pad but it really isn't bad. The caliper is a "floating caliper" design, meaning it can move side to side, so with 1 piston, it "squeezes" evenly on both sides.

My M3 has single piston calipers, and with Axxis Ultimates I can engage ABS at 100+mph. 125-45mph takes me only about 125feet.
