Question: What do you think is a good price for brake upgrade package? :help I have found a package that I can get for about $350 shipped<---I think. It includes front and rear pads, front and rear brembo slotted, drilled rotors and steel lines for the front. This is only a replacement for stock rotors, as I do not wish to go with a 300zx brake upgrade because of the fact that I will not be buying new rims any time soon and I don't want to worry about clearance issues. Any other related info about this thread will be greatly appreciated. :D :D

I know what you mean----->need to replace pads, but want to upgrade slightly as well. I found a seller and I believe he may only have one upgrade set. I'll see if he has more. The pads are Axxis superior metal master pads.

$350 sounds like a pretty good price if all that is included. Let me know if that is the price cuz i am interested in that , I want to do the 300zx upgrade but i didn't check the price on that install yet and i am on a fairly limited budget. **** college tuition.

To me that sounds about right, good actually, im used to seeing about 500-2000 for upgrades, 2000 plus for the full brembo gran turismo package, when brakes are really not used cuz i like to downshift.

Downshifting is fun, but brakes are cheaper to fix than a clutch or transmission.

Raceconcepts.net comes to about the same price (just about call to be sure as the listed price is way over their actual) with front and rear slotted & drilled brembo plated rotors, front and rear pads (pbr pads that are the exacts of repco and axxis, diff name same pads) and front and rear lines, without shipping.

I got the rear rotors and pads for 130$ total. Some one else got all four rotors for 200$, then figure pads are 70$-75$ tops for all four, then the 4 SS lines are 115$ list, so figure about 90$, and that brings the total to 360$ - 365$...

Just thought Id throw that out for you all... Plus I really like the company and they treated me very well, even for my first order.

96, is that deal still available? I'll drop the 16 digit password right now if I can get that deal.

I'm wondering the same thing. I e-mailed the company in hopes of a response about that setup.

Yeah thats their price, I was surprised as well, and a little cautious but I got them on my car and they are brembo rotors (I checked the rotor itself for the stamp even thoughit was in a brembo box hehe).

I would CALL and talk to Woody... Hes a great guy and saved me 15$ in shipping because he ran out that day and shipped em for me, vs waiting the next day. I ordered at like 4:30 their time on a tuesday. I was going to ship them 2 day so they got to me friday (if they shipped out the next day) so I could put them on in time for my sunday auto-x. I called (called 30 mins previously for an equiry)and ordered them, and he said he would get them out in 1/2 hour this way allowing me to go 3 day and save 15$. Ups still got them to me in 2 days though hehe, its funny as UPS f***'s everything else up.

I would have no reservations dealing with them again.

BTW oem blanks from nissan, at cost + 20% (employee price) run 75$ each, vs 47.50 each from RC for slotted and x-drilled. So for oem ones I woulda paid 159$, but I got the rotors and pads for 169$ 3 day shipped from cali to florida :)

Edit: I just grabbed an image of the invoice and rotor (some of the pad as well) mounted. I still havent worn through the machine grooves on the rotor face yet hehe.

Well the 300zx conversion is a bigger rotor and better caliper upgrade. The one we are talking about is simply a rotor upgrade, no size increase and you can still use stock calipers.

And still be in STS vs SM, the biggest reason for me.

Well that and I can still lock the stock ones up with my current tires so the z32 setup wont gain me anything then a higher heat (less fade) threshold. But Ill lock up sooner, soooooo.

They are solo II class designations. Basically Street Touring S (sts) is a second to two seconds slower then Street Modified. That may not seem like much but the difference from 1st to 3rd in any given class is usually only a few tenths difference.

STS is a pretty tight ruled class where not a whole lot can be done other then the basics. If you replace the brakes with anything other then OEM sizes , or type, you will automatically be in SM.

Um just for reference Jay (psi240) runs SM, and Im no where near Jay in terms of power (last time I checked I wasnt hitting 11.9's in the 1/4), suspension yeah probably equal IIRC. But if you figure all is equal, including chassis, but power who will win hehe. SM is basically all goes as long as its Streetable... ANd I would rather have a turbo throw me into that class vs some set of front brakes I dont need yet... :)

Ride4lame: If I did get the 300zx calipers I would still get the brembo rotors on it asap.... Actually the oem blanks are made by brembo anyway hehe so if you run nissan oem z32 rotors on a z32 caliper to are running brembos anyway hehe.

I have a set I could throw on from my best friends abundant TT-Z parts supply, but the solo classification thing holds me back... When my mods force me into that class I will put them on first thing :) But I will probably need them by then.

My friend may get the z32 slotted brembos from RC as well as it should also be damn cheep for his TT-Z.
