What brake upgrade options can I get for the stock four lug for a 91 240sx?? Dont really want to do five lug swap to get 300zx calipers.. thatll be the last option.. dont really want to spend so much money.. Not planning on doing major drifting or anything like that.. just want a bigger brake upgrade just incase i do need it... heard that maxima calipers can be used... but not sure how big of a difference that makes.. any ideas??

You can also use the altima brakes as well. For the 300zx brake uprage you don't have to swap to 5 lug. All you need is a machine shop to drill the 5 lug rotor to 4 lug...

what are you looking for in brakes?

if you want shorter stopping you need pads

if you want less fade you need pads and fluid

better pedal feel lines, maybe pads

rotors are just a good idea, since youre changing pads anyway changing the rotors will give them better bite

you wont notice a difference just by upgrading to alty brakes or whatnot

i believe Q brakes have the same connection as 240, so they just be stock replacement, but dont hold me to it

Q rotors would have to get redrilled, yes, theyre all 5 lug

im pretty sure the brakes were the same for all years

i still say youre spending a lot of money you dont need to, but its your call

Q45 brakes are basically the same as the 240 brakes except theyre bigger (allow the 280x28mm rotor).. IMO you could use the twin turbo Z32 rotors (280x30mm) without any problem, if you can find em cheaper. They will work. 2mm wont make any difference. They bolt straight onto 240s and will clear the stock wheels, which will not happen with Z32 brakes unless you go with spacers....

Q45 brakes will be VERY adequate for most cars... SPL can get you some hawk pads, and youll be set.. For 240s, unless your doing some hardcore racing, you wont need anything bigger than Q45 brakes... I mean, if it can stop a 4000lb car in 125 feet, think about what it will do on your 240...

You can goto the INFINITI CLASSIFIEDS and check them out, we have a ton of Q45s being parted out... You will just upgrade the front calipers, leave the rears alone..... If you can a set of rotors too, then youll be good.. Just get them resurfaced and slap some good pads on there..

Q's have 2 pistons, we only have one

however, as much as Q brakes will be just fine, stock brakes will be more so

YES they do! however 97-01 Q45 brakes are bigger (296x28mm vs 280x28) so they may not clear 15in wheels.....

i guess i should have worded that differently..

which years did the q45 come with the 280x28 brakes?

although the rotors came in different sizes, were the calipers the same in both applications?

and last..are you saying the 280x28 and calipers would fit under 240sx steelies???

are the steelies 15? if they are they should, because the caliper doesnt stick out far enough (or at all) to come in contact with ANY wheel.
