Can anyone give me a quick crash course in how to change a brake slave cylinder?? I swapped the diff in my 720 and after driving it around today and keeping to top up the brake fluid I looked underneath the back and saw brake fluid leaking out of the drum. I have been told that the issue is the brake slave cylinder. I am going to swap the busted cylinder out for one off my old diff since they are still good but I have no idea how to do it . Any help would be greatly appreciated in explaining how to do it. Thanks

I think you're talking about wheel cylinders. I havent done the ones for my truck yet so Im not sure if you have to take the shoes off or not. The cylinders should just unbolt from the backing plate. Once you reinstall them, just bleed them from the bleeder screw.

Alldata calls for 2.5 hours for both sides so I assume that the shoes and pins will have to be removed.

Since you have the old diff off, Id look at that one and practice taking it off and putting it on. Drums can be tricky with all the hold down pins, springs, guide plates, etc, etc. If its your first time, take pictures before you remove stuff.

This is the repair procedure:
Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel and tire assemblies.
Remove brake drum. If drum is difficult to remove, screw in bolt to pull drum out.
Remove anti-rattle spring and pin, Fig. 16.
Remove lower return spring, open brake shoes outward and remove two upper return springs, then remove extension link.
Remove shoe assemblies.
Separate secondary shoe from toggle lever by removing pin.
Apply suitable lubricant to lubricating points, Fig. 16.
Reverse procedure to install.

Good luck. :dblthumb:

Taking the shoes off is not really necessary. Take a piece of wire and tie it around the wheel cylinder making sure it passes between the forked ends. tie it tight and using a flat 8 inch screwdriver, prize the shoe off the cylinder. make sure the cylinder is unbolted and the brake line disconnected first. With the shoes prized open the cylinder should fall off.
