brake rubbing

i just installed new brakes and rotors recently and wasnt sure if it was normal for the brake pads to touch the rotors at all times. i tried searching and googling but couldnt really find an answer. just wanted if it was normal

Touching or Rubbing.Touching is ok. That is how the pads are moved back as there are no springs to make them return like there is on a drum brake system.

If they are rubbing causeing Drag then you probably have problems with the cylinder and need to rebuild (includeing honeing ) or replace.

i think the rear passenger one is rubbing because after test driving around it changed colors. kinda rainbowish.

Lift the car and spin the wheel by hand.

If you have a LSD this will be harder to discern but there should be a slight drag, but the wheel should turn easily.

If it changed colors then that is rubbing.

BTW you did clean the oil off of the rotors before you installed them, right?

if your disc brakes are rubbing you have to re-build the caliper inside the cylinder bore is a rubber o-ring, this ring retracts the piston when you release the brake pedal maybe only 3-5 thousandths of an inch but its enough to move the pad away from the disc.

my car has a lsd and when i spun the wheel it was a bit harder thank it should be. i cleaned the rotors with wet microfiber and then i dried it off. i was thinking about replacing the caliper. thanks for all of the help
