'98 Maxima Pulsing brakes, planning to replace the front rotors. Have found a number of brands on-line and must chose between Brembo, Mountain or NICO rotors. What's the difference, any experience with new rotors? Which ones would you recommend?

When you step on the brakes and you feel the pedal shaking and pulsating, mostly like those are signs of warped brake rotors. You could always just remove the rotors and have them turned at your local machine shop. Otherwise, if you're set about getting new brake rotors, Brembo is a very good brand. Brembo brakes come optional on 350Z's and standard on the new Lancer EVO 8. Brembo is know for it's high quality and durability. But beware of people selling fakes. There's a way to disguish between real Brembos and imitation made in China Brembos. Gotta do your homework on that one.

Weight of rotor [usually less than 1 pound difference] and an x-ray microscope and other tests. Low quality scrap steel.Measure the thickness of the outer parallel portions vs the thickness of the air vaned area......the thicker the metal the better ------ worst to best is less than 1.0mm 9/9/9 vs 8.6/9.75/8.6...........even a 5% thickness variation is significant!!!!!

Rotors are available from $21-$70 wholesale.

Usually you get what you pay for!
