This is my first time working on brakes. I'm stuck and can't remove that rotor. Do you pop that center cap, I don't want to force it out.

I've popped that center cap and removed those two circular retainers, but it won't budge. Anything else to remove. Looks like bearing is right there. I did not find a C clamp in there like some of the online videos show. I tried hitting the rotor but no go!

It's been too long since I did it myself, but it's all in the Factory Service Manual, above in the pinned 'Information and FAQ' thread, and the brake rotor and pad replacement and the front bearing threads within the pinned 'How to' thread.

Thanks Alan, I ended up watching a video for an Xterra, and the next step was just to pull the rotors straight out which forced the bearing to come out first. From there it was not a problem.

Absolutely , that's not just a rotor - that's a complete HUB assembly , integral w/rotor ,a little more to them :chuckle:

Careful when you put the retaining ring screws back in --they are very soft metal and will strip their screwdriver slots easily.

Also, be aware of the procedure for setting the bearing preload with that threaded ring in your second photo. Have you downloaded the maintenance manual pdf yet?

Yes those screws are made of a soft metal, I might have stripped head of one of them, I'll have to buy some new ones for next brake job. I was not aware of a service manual for our cars on this forum. I am a newbie here and still learning about how to navigate this web of new info. I just downloaded it. Thanks for pointing that out, Attofarad!
