Since its a trend lately.

Coming up on 36k miles and all original brakes on the car ('03 non-brembo). Curious as to what the dealership was normally charging everyone for turning the rotors and installation. I have a set of Hawk pads already, just figure that the rotors will need to be turned, otherwise I'd just install the pads myself and be done.

Hopefully turning them will be cheaper than buying new rotors (I've considered going to a slotted rotor), cause I'm setting the record for being broke at the moment.

Thanks

I normally don't turn my rotors unless I have issues.... :couch
(I do measure them to make sure they are still in spec)
btw, there is a 91 240sxse 5 speed salvage title 208K miles running, slight damage to the rear bumper and hatch near by asking $2k. You need another.

I may just replace the pads and check th rotors then, how long are rotors lasting you?

I need to get my other S13s back onthe road first. Just got my Vert's transmission back off today, just have to wait on a different clutch pressure plate and hope it works. Then will come the KA-t Coupe work.

Take the rotors off and take them to Napa and have them turned. Return home and put rotors back on with new pads. Go bed pads in and enjoy! Save mucho money.

I was told that the sedan rotors will last longer than the coupes. My coupe's were at the lower end of spec at 44K....Purchased used new Nissan pads that squealed like a pig.
Replaced with Akebono pads without turning and no more squealing pig.
Are they giving you problems?? Pulsating?? How do they look??

Thinking our local Carquest charges $12 to turn two, if you go that route.
I have one mechanic buddy that always has them turned and another that only does it if it is apparent that it needs it.
The 05 Sedan's crappy rotors were warped at 35K and the pads had plenty of life left. Traded it before doing the brakes.
The 08 G35X pads and rotors are doing fine at 39K.

I'm getting a little pulsing, but probably just the pads. I'll try to take the wheels off and investigate soon.

I have experianced pulsing the brakes and at 80mph and hitting the brakes I get some scary shake and this with only 17k miles. I hope this is not normal. I should not see any such thing, pretty much ever. It is not like i drive my car on a track or anything. My S2000 with 40k miles on it, still has great braking and that has been driven more aggressively (of course it is only stopping 65% of the weight). Is there anyway to fix this up permanently? I want good breaks at 120k miles.

I have slotted braked on the front of my 03 sedan and I've been getting some shaking lately when I'm braking kind of hard. Is it true that you shouldn't "turn" slotted rotors or would it be ok? Thanks!
