I am a beginner at doing any type of repair work and was in the process of putting new pads on my stock 240sx brakes. I was able to get the pads in and the caliper over the pads but when I try and swing the caliper down, I am unable to make it over the part with the rubber boot. Is this lower caliper bolt supposed to slide like the upper one does? If it is frozen how can I repair it?

Push it in ... it should compress.

Yeah, push in the caliper with a 2 dollar brake tool from checkers or napa. If you want to go the cheap route and already have a c-clamp use that. Just push the brake piston in and then everything should fit just the way it's suppose to.

It isn't the piston that I was talking about, it is the sliding "pin" on the bottom. It was frozen solid from years of torture and neglect. I tried to remove, clean, and relube the bastard but I damaged it. I guess it is time for a 300zx brake upgrade in the front. I guess everything happens for a reason.Thank you for your help:ylsuper
