Hey guys....09 coupe owner. Started getting this weird sensation when braking...basically, at around 50-60mph and higher, when attempting to brake, the brakes do not depress all the way (thus not getting great stopping power). Once I let my foot off the brakes a tad, then try again I get the full braking power. Any ideas? Im around 55k miles, brakes were replaced maybe 10-15k miles ago. Rotors maybe?

Honestly it sounds like the brakes weren't bled right.. If there's air in the system it will cause a "mushy" feeling pedal. What kind of pads did you use?

If you are not getting full depression on the brake pedal on 1st attempt, it may be possible that you are starting to leak a little brake fluid from the master cylinder into the brake booster. Altimas are known for this problem. Check to see if you are showing signs of leakage between the master cylinder and brake booster. It may be just a little wet or oily with dirt. As it gets worse, you may find signs of leaking on your driveway and getting a brake light warning on your dash due to low fluid levels. I would take it in. I believe nissan has a replacement recall if it is leaking. My wifes 08 failed at 46k miles. I would def get it checked out.

Did they just change the pads or did they do a fluid flush as well? If the latter, they def could have bled wrong and you ended up with air in the system, but if they didn't flush the system it sounds like you have a leak. I'm with spawn...have the dealer check it out.

There are two things I refuse to ignore or cheap out on....brakes and tires. They are your only connection with the road and having either fail almost never ends well.

This was the problem. (Master cylinder) Small leak, but there's a recall on the part so the dealer replaced without issue. Good call.
