Hi there...

I just replaced both rear calipers, rotors and pads on my 1989 240sx. Both calipers were seized up. I went to bleed the brakes and there is no fluild flowing to the new calipers. Could this be a master cylinder problem? Or should I look into the proportioning valve?

If it's a master cyl problem is it a hard job to tackle?Front brakes work fine.

Thanks

I would honestly look into both. And both of them are a pretty big ****** to do on our cars.

man its not tough at all! Did you take your break fluid cap off when you replaced your rotors and pads. b/c if your didnt you may have blown your master cylinder bc i did, but anyway a new master cylinder install is an easy fix ) 2 bolts and 2 or 3 break line hook ups

Yes, I removed the cap to the master cyl when I did the brakes. The only reason I think it might be the proportioning valve is because I still have front brakes. where is this valve on the 240's?

More than likely this is a problem with one of the rubber hoses that run to the rear brakes. The easiest way to check this is to try and bleed the lines before any of the rubber hoses. If I remember correctly there is a single line running from the master to the back brakes. It then splits somewhere around the rear differential. Usually there is a rubber line that bolts up somewhere around there. May also be the proportioning valve, just start bleeding lines til you figure out where you are losing pressure.
