well

im telling you this **** is really pissing me off and hopefully one of you guys will be able to let me know whats wrong and how to fix it.

k this is the story..

in march i noticed my car would make chirping noises when i drove a low speeds. It was my brakes making that noise but it only happened at low speeds, and stoped when I put my foot on the brake.

so I talk to 3 weeks ago mechanic and he tells me i need new pads. So i get new pads, and boom, the noise goes away. So i was all happy n ****.

2 days later it makes a screeching sound when i use my brakes and NOT when im just driving.

so i bring it back for him 2 fix it, and he does. but NOW AGAIN, its making the screeching noise!!

im about to loose it, my brakes work fine, its just that noise, and it annoys the crap outta me!

so please help me!

thanks

cut your rotors, or buy new rotor as lessthanjakejohn said.you should always cut your rotor when you put in new pads. and put on some brake quiet while you at it, but i dont believe in that stuff.

cut? A little more info on this. I plan on doing the brakes myself this weekend and would like to know what else should be done. If I do need to have my rotors turned, is it difficult to remove the rotors? Any links are welcome, thank you!!!!

Thats what turning the rotors is, cutting. The machine that does it is called a brake lathe. It spins the rotor and shaves off a small amount to make it true again.

your mechanic changed your brake pads and didn't turn your rotors? Doesn't sound like a mechanic I would be taken a lot of my business to.

Yeah, don't go back. He *should* have done it, but he probably can't compete with what the chain stores charge, so doesn't even have the equipment to do so. Pep Boys here will turn rotors for $8 each. Should be easy to pull the rotors by threading screws into the small threaded holes on the rotor face. I like to replace all the shims and hardware too...helps keep the squeaks away. Make sure the shear pins are CLEAN and lubed...they should slide around real smooth.
