Hey guys, when I release the brake pedal it makes a little squeaky noise. Also it seems to only happen when I lighty tap on it and release lightly, not forcefully. I never notice before because I usually have the radio on. Maybe it just the sound of spring? The gas pedal doesn't squeak thou.

My old car was a piece of junk and made all kinds of noise so I don't know if this is normal or not. Maybe I am being paranoid since brand new car, just wanted some advice before go to dealer.

Thanks.

If I listen hard enough, both of my (old) cars make clicking sounds when I press on the brake. My guess is that is the electrical trigger for the brake lights. As far as a squeak; I would say that something may be screwed too tight.....try wd40 or grease lightening. I usually have the tunes too high to notice, but you got me checking!!! I doubt its any type of mechanical failure, a simple adjustment and/or some lubrication should do the trick!!My girlfriend's car is an 01 Alero. Good car (for an American), but it makes all kinds of noises if you really listen. Good luck man! Hope its nothing serious! ( I don't think it would be))))

Have you gotten down and put your head under the dash while pressing the brake? Try that......you should be able to tell whether or not lubrication would help or if its more serious.....

Is there any information on the recall? How do I know if I need to take mine in to be serviced?

Update on the squeaky brake. I haven't had a chance to schedule my oil change yet and to have them look at it, I am so lazy. Anyways, I have found out from another website, that it seems to be a problem alot of people have. The brake pedal squeaks upon release. The solution seems to be to replace the brake light switches.

One guy even said to make sure they do this because it is a Service Bulletin and not just let them spray some lubricant. I am suprised I am the only one having this problem when almost everyone on other website has had it. Maybe because I wrote Coupe, and I have had the coupe since May 30, maybe takes awhile for it to act up?

So watch out for the squeaky brakes.

I just started experiencing this problem in full swing. The pedal makes a squeaking noise when released and also clicks when pressed and released. I will take this car to be fixed on monday.

Hey everyone, I had the same problem and you guys will have to get new brake light switches as well as a new brake pedal. I got it fixed from the dealership and its a pretty common problem so it seems. So bottom line, goto your dealer and goodluck! Mine is ok now, fixed.

How long does it take them to fix this? I am also getting the air deflector installed the same day.

Hey man, unless they already have the brake light switches in stock or ordered, you prolly won't get that brake pedal fixed the same day. I had to take in twice. The first time it was greased up and it helped but the squeakiness was still there, so they said they would have to replace the brake light switches....I had my air deflector installed the same day they replaced the brake pedal...it was a long wait...

Just got back from the dealer. Took them almost 2.5 hours to install the air deflector and new brake light switches. The pedal doesn't squeak anymore but it does make a clicking sound when pressed/released. Is this normal? Is it ABS?

Yes, it is normal to make the clicking sound. I believe it is the brake light switch that does make the sound. My Infiniti did this. My honda's even made a sound.

Thanks. Besides that, it pretty much fixes it and there is no more squeaking. If anyone else has this problem, I highly recommend they take their car to the dealer and tell the service guy that they need new brake switches.
