Hi,

On my Toyota, I reduced the brake pedal height (effectively moving the pad forward) using a following procedure:

How to Adjust Brake Pedal Height

Step 1-Check the Brake Pedal Height

Check the brake pedal height and determine if it is in its proper position. The brake pedal should be an inch higher relative to the gas pedal.

Step 2-Look for the Brake Push Rod

You need to know where the brake push rod is before you can adjust the height of the brake pedal. At the right side of the brake pedal is a rod that is connected to the brake pad level through the floor of your car into the engine.

Step 3-Remove the Lock Nut

Using a wrench, remove the closest nut that connects the brake pedal and the push rod.

Step 4-Adjust the Height

Using a pair of pliers, twist the push rod clockwise to increase the height of the brake pedal; if you need to lower the brake pedal you can do it by twisting the push rod counter clockwise.

Step 5-Lock Nut

The last step is to tighten the nut that you removed in step 3. Make sure that the lock nut is locked tight.

There you go! Do a couple of brake tests at low speed to check if you need to re-adjust the height of your vehicle’s brake pedal before going out for a routine drive.

It resulted in much more comfortable driving experience with no side effects ( have been driving like this for over 5 years).

Would very much like to find out - is it possible to adjust the drive pedal of M35 similar way - it sticks out way too much for my long legs!

Thanks in advance!

Normal Brake pedal distance from floor is 157 − 167 mm (6.18 − 6.57 in)

Warning: Adjusting this must be done carefully since the brake force switch and brake light switch need to also be adjusted.

Here are the instructions on adjusting the brake pedal
ADJUSTMENT
1. Loosen stop lamp switch and brake switch by turning it counterclockwise
by 45°.
2. Loosen lock nut (A) on the input rod to rotate input rod for adjusting
brake pedal height to the specified one, and tighten lock nut
(A).Refer to brake pedal height BR-6, "Inspection and Adjustment" ,
specified torque BR-19, "COMPONENTS" .
CAUTION:Make sure the threaded end of input rod stays inside clevis.
3. With the pedal pulled and held by hand, press stop lamp switch
and brake switch until its threaded end contacts stopper.
4. With the threaded end of the stop lamp switch and brake switch
contacting the bracket, rotate the switch clockwise by 45° to
secure.
CAUTION:Make sure that the clearance (C) between bracket and end
of stop lamp switch and brake switch is within the standard.
Refer to BR-6, "Inspection and Adjustment" .
5. Check pedal play.
CAUTION:Make sure that stop lamps goes off when pedal is released.
6. Start engine to check brake pedal depression height when
depressed. Refer to BR-6, "Inspection and Adjustment" .

Thank you very much! I wonder - has anybody lowered the brake pedal on M35 for more comfortable driving experience?
The high brake pedal/high seat combo is almost a deal breaker for me on M35. I have long limbs, and because the seat does not go low enough
(like say Lexus or BMW) I find my foot at a VERY straining angle to my ankle when I press the brakes
Normally, it is advised a brake pedal is an inch higher/closer or more than accelerator (safety travel reserve?).
On my Celica, I moved it forward so gas a and brakes are flush - very convenient to switch from gas to brakes - just rotate your foot left, heel stays,
no need to move the foot back/up, no strain.
I maintained my brakes (fluid change, etc.) carefully, and for 5+ years now after the adjustment they always worked perfectly, short travel, perfect stopping efficiency
even with less travel reserve (but still plenty left from the wall when it stops!). To me, it is certainly worth it.
Just curious if anybody considered/done it?
