Hi, everyone... I have a '94 Q, and just put new rotors and pads up front, after I'd noticed the "Brake Pads Worn" warning in the dash display for a couple of weeks.

Anyway, I put on the new rotors and pads, along with replacing the front pad sensor... NO problems. However, now I notice the brake pad warning has NOT gone away.

After browsing through this site, I have 1) double-checked the wiring on the sensor, and it appears just fine, 2) unhooked the car battery for an hour in an attempt to reset. Neither has worked. I also do not see a sensor for the rear axles, either.

Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated. TIA

The "Brake pads worn" warning is very simple system and I think you need to make sure the sensor is new and plugged in. Make sure there is no metal exposed on the front and rear sensors.

See the Service manual for more info: http://Nicoclub.com/FSM

Check the back pads.. There's also a sensor back there... If that doesn't work, do like everyone else and cut the brake sensor wire and wire nut them together.

That the easy way out, half a**...But if you going to do that do it to the sensor just incase the new owner wants to take better car of the car in keeping it OEM.

Like I said the warning system is just a little switch which is triggered when the brake pads get low enough to wear the rubber off the sensor. And expose metal which triggers the warning.

OEM pads have the sensor integreated in them which is neat and fool proof. Where as some aftermarket pad have the sensor outside of the pad.

I DID consult the service manual- it clearly shows the sensor up front, but makes no mention of a sensor in the back. I also tried to close the circuit by tying the wires together, but it had no effect.

Given the blizzard conditions here today, I'll check the rear brakes this weekend for another sensor. The front pads came WITH the sensor, but my rear pads did not.

Yep.... the rears have the sensor too. Were these factory pads? In any case it sounds like you found your problem.
