Just changed my front brake pads with OEM's from Joe at Scottsdale. Connected the sensor plug but the warning light is still on. Could be the rears but last time I inspected all the pads the front were much more worn than the rear. The fronts after removal showed that the pink sensor was about level with the remaining pad material.

Is there a reset function or something. I have searched old posts but don't seem to find a definitive answer

The sensor connections may be loose, but as with most Q/Infiniti electronics, I'd suggest disconnecting the battery over night first.

It is a junk feature.

I suppose the only reason to keep the pad wear sensors as they were designed is for resale. If you plan on keeping the car, just cut the wires, tie them, and tape them.

Why would you say that? I've used oem U85 rear pads for 14 years with sensors............same With MM fronts just relocate the sensor to the new pads.............most quality pads [actually designed for Q] come with a new sensor.......even real MM as opposed to fakes which are prevalent.

Owners who follow this advice are just nailing one more nail in the coffin.

mine are OEM from Scottsdale and have the sensor and wire / plug. I checked I seem to have a solid connection between the new plug and old socket. I disconnected the battery for a short time but the warning stayed on.

I can try it overnight and failing that I could try to clean the old socket connections.

Any other obvious stuff I might be missing?

I would check the rears again, pretty reliable system if all the connections are good.

Pad wear warnings are like extra beeps for the elderly to tell them their blinkers are still flashing. Never has the warning indicated brake wear to me. CUT! SNIP!

Checked my rear pads today when I was changing sway bar bushings. They look ok. Also referred to a brake inspection report I had done 2 months ago. At that time the fronts measured 0.187 (inches I assume) and the rears measured 0.267. So the mystery of the brake warning light continues.

I disconnected and reconnected the new plug on the new pads to the socket on the hub with no improvement. Although when I turn the car off and restart the light is out but as soon as I apply the brakes the warning reappears. Not sure what to do next as i definitely want to retain the feature.
