Well since I haven't caught a thread about this yet. I have a set of Axxis Ultimate up front on my Z32 30mm brakes, and I'm ordering Hawk HPS for the rear. Hopefully the stickier Hawks will balance out the bias a little bit. Since with the stock master cylinder the front locks first right? At least that's what happened with my NX brakes on my SE-R. I juggled brake pads with those to alter bias to where it came out close enough for me.

This is mostly track day stuff for mine, since it's still going to run on the street. A friend of mine just ordered Hawk Blues to run at the track. We'll see how his turn out.

So what's everyone else running?

Just put Axxis Ultimates in the front ---seems like they will be OK for AutoX. I am not sure about the track though--the rating seems to be lower speed stuff.

Who is running what pads at the track--and under how much braking ( recently destroyed a set of street pads at Wakins Glen )

S-13 chassis by the way

You are in the same boat I am--I am experimenting to find the right ones. Seems like the concenus is one of the hawk compounds. I ran some cheap KVR's, knowing they would burn out--but they got destroyed in 2 sessions

I used to run Porterfield R4S's on the old 510--and really liked them, but this car is about 900 lbs heavier.

Im running hawk pads....they are awsome other then the fact that both front shimms came off and when into my rotors...I havent hear anyone else have this happen so many it was just my two pads. The tabs that hold the shims in place bent some how and it slipped off the back of the pad, and rotated untill they were squeeling against my rotor. yanked them off and every thing is fine so I didnt really worry about it.

i run hawk hps pads all around with new rotors. i do this because i believe in having the lowest temp pad material possible with zero fade. i drive my car on the street only on the hps's so i dont ever see any fade. i need the low temp stopping power because on the interstate the brakes cool down. imagine a panic stop with the wife and kid in the car with brakes that are not warmed up.

for this reason i reccomend separate pads for street and track. there is no dual purpose pad imo.

Im running axxis ultimate up front on my 30mm aluminum 300zx brakes...i am also running them in my stock 240 rear breaks.......my car stops great. As far as the master cyinder locking up the front first....i dont think thats true. I thought i read somewhere that even though the breaks are upgraded the percentage applied is same as stock. I upgraded to the 300zx mc for a better pedal feel though. I think http://www.importnut.net talks about this on their 300zx brake write up.

HPS' all around... after trying out many compounds... these are my #1, 2, and 3 choice for a dedicated street pad. However when the S14 can be a little more track dedicated, i want to try the HP+.

I think id prefer ferodo 2500 over hps, they seem a little more track worthy and ill be starting to run hpde's next summer

however I cant find them for stock s13 brakes, Alan do you know if spl has them if I call? I dont see them on the website

KRV Carbon Kevlar. NEVER had them fade (trust me, I've tried. 3 consecutive 100mph+ - 0mph stops. Still no fade.), low brake dust, no noise. The only odd thing about them is that when you pad is set into the rotor, the rotor doesn't "blue", it "blacks". It's odd, but I love these pads and plan on continuing to use them until I have a problem with them.

Rode with a friend breaking in his Hawk Blue pads in Z32 fronts/stock rears(with HP+). All I can say is WOW, I didn't think the Blues would make that big of a difference.

Yeah, and then ask your friend about getting that Hawk Blue garbage off his car and wheels. It'll actually embed itself into the paint! I'm running PFC Z-rated pads on my Vette, they work really well for an autocross. Tracking a car might overwhelm them, but when I'm at an HPDE I'm only running at 80% or so, just having fun.

Don't know what we're going to run on my son's S13 when the current pads wear out, but then he needs to learn how to drive anyway!

Have a good one,Mike

i ran hawk hps steert pads (700f rated) and i experienced fade after a few 100 - 50 brakings.... after a few track sessions i actually noticed that they started to smear on the rotors.

Gonna go with axxis ultimates next time around (1000f rated) and z32 front (maybe back brakes)

I run Hawk HPS. They are fine on the street and Ok for autoX. I did a HPDE out at hartland park and got some pad fade a few times and i wasn't pushing them at all. The fronts seem to dust quit a bit. I am not that impressed with them. But I think I may also have a booster problem, I'm not sure. So take it for what its worth.I know several people that run Carbo tech (all-be-it they both drive subie's) but they all seem to like them really well. I know some one else that Likes the metal masters, but that is on a VW.
