I'm going to be ordering a little gift for my car and figured the master cylinder brace would be a nice touch. My question is which one is better? There is the the flat bar brace that goes on the fender well, but I just saw the heavy duty turnbuckle on czp. Which would you guys go with? First hand experience is wanted

Merry Christmas to all

Merry Christmas buddy!
I don't have experience with either, but could you post links to both so I could check them out? I'm interested in seeing the theory behind them.

I have one like the one in the first link from Z1 and have been very happy with it.

I have the first one, its great, the second looks overkill. If i were that worried about flex id pull the master and booster and weld reinforcements to the fire wall. But its not needed, sometimes simple is best.

Thanks guys. I was leaning towards the 300 degree brace(first one), but wasn't sure since the czp one is only $6 more. Maybe I'll order the turnbuckle one and give a review of it. I can always fab the 300 degree one myself at my shop

If you have some fab skills i would make your own that also put's a piece of metal over the top of the bmc as it flex's not just out but also up some. There is a link to what I am talking about on 3zc but you would have to be a member to see it.

Just got back from my car and did some flex measurements. outward flex under very hard braking was 3/16-1/4. I couldn't really see and upward movement from it. I went ahead and ordered the turnbuckle style just to get a first hand on how it performs and if I"m not happy then I'll fab my own up. When I get it I'll post a review of it and put up before and after measurements

anyone have a pic of this thing installed? i put one in my Z last summer and there's about a 1/4" gap between the brace and the cylinder? i thought it was supposed to be touching it, and no matter how i installed the damn piece it doesn't look right...

edit: apparently some of these braces come with a bolt that you twist out to contact the cylinder, but mine doesn't have one, i'm going to ditch it and order a new one for spring from somewhere else

Where did you buy yours from? Right now czp has no shipping costs, getting the 300 degree one from them would be a good idea. That or you just go to a hardware store and find the right size bolt and some foam to put on the end of the bolt

edit: oh hey you're in BC ? nice to see another canadian eh!

of course mine is RHD so the price is $45 *lol* screw it, i'll just modify the one i have, maybe try to drill and tap it, put in my own bolt

Oh yeah, rhd versions are stupid with pricing. And luckily I'm close to the border so I have everything shipped to a business that is like a transfer station. pay $5 bucks and save on shipping and drive it over yourself
