I just pulled home and the brake lights are on!! I unplugged the battery on and off and nothing! I have a lot of errands to run today this is really annoying. What do I do?

check the rubber stopper on your brake pedal arm for the brake light switch. There should actually be 2 on the brake pedal arm, but if you see a hole in the arm anywhere near that switch then buy a rubber stopper. $1 at the dealership the only hard part is getting it in the brake arm hole. One switch is for the ascd(cruise control), and the other is for the brake lights. The FSM has a diagram in better detail. Good Luck.

FSM(Factory Service Manual), you should also be able to consult the Mitchell Manual at any library, and make all the copies you need off of a copy machine, because I doubt they will loan you the manual.

It's real easy to find, the buttons are back underneath the dash, so when the pedal is depressed the stopper moves away from the button. The brake lights go off when the button is pushed in. If the rubber is gone, the button sticks through the hole that the stopper was pressed into, so it stays in the "out"/lights on position. Stick something up there on the pedal arm to keep that button in until you get the part.
