Brake lights won't work?

Yesterday I went to replace the brake switch, I took out the old one and before installing the new one I plugged it in to see if it worked, and it did. But then it started raining so I didn't have the time to reinstall the new one. So today I went back to put it in and now it doesn't work, and my brake lights won't turn on again... any ideas? :gotme
