The other day after turning my J30 off, I went inside, and a few minutes later my neighbor came over and told me my brake lights were still on. I pulled the tail lamp fuse in the engine, but nothing happened. So, for the past few days I've just been taking the negative battery cable off.

I've heard of a brake switch somewhere near the pedal, but I've twisted and contorted my body in ways it shouldn't trying to find it. I still can't!

I know there are fuses on the driver side, but the diagram is missing, but I just found one on another topic, so I'll try that later too.

But, where could I find the brake switch? I looked in both manuals and have no idea what to look for.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Thanks

i know this is a dumb question but... are you sure your headlights arent on? I mean.. you could have the switch turned to where the sidemarkers just come on but i believe the brake lights would stay on also. You wouldnt notice it though because the stock sidemarkers are so dim.

I know when you step on the brake there is a switch that turns them on maybe its stuck? try directly behind the brake pad or maybe its a switch under the dash?

I solved the problem. Not the switch or headlights (first thing I checked). There is this little rubber gumdrop looking thing that is on the top of the pedal and when the pedal is not compressed, the gumdrop pushes the botton on the sensor switch. The gumdrop came off and was on my floorboard. I had a friend that owns an Infiniti G20 look at it and he put the gumdrop in and the brake lights went off. But, the gumdrop won't stay because it broke off somehow. So, now I'm on a mission to find one.

I had the same problem. I thought someone was stealing my car.
FWIW: I used one of those cheap carabener key chains. It fit perfectly in the empty hole.

I just dealt with this a few weeks ago. I got the parts from the local nissan dealer (they were cheaper than the infiniti dealer and had the same parts number). I glued a penny on there in the meantime and that worked temporarily as I drove to get the new rubber bumpers. I replaced the cruise control one as well.

the part number is: 46584-5p010

a few results of googling said part number:
