When i bought my car the brake light signal on the dash turned on when i press the brakes but i didnt think anything of it. So I was pulled over recently for my brake lights not flashing and I didn't even realize it. I went home to check it and the lights turn on when I turn the switch on for the headlights. The bulbs work perfectly fine, they just won't flash when I press the brake pedal in. I thought it was the brake light switch so I replaced that and it worked normal for a couple days, but I have the same problem again. So please any advise as to why this is happening would mean a lot! Thank you!

If it isn't the brake light switch on the pedal, then its the brake light sensor that attaches to the drivers side tail light on the inside.

Usually people have them used, or you could buy a new one. It looks like this:

The one that says "stop and tail light sensor".

You were right! Thanks man, it fixed the problem. Although my brake check light still flashes on my dash it works perfectly fine. It's been almost a month since I replaced the part but the lights flash fine when I press the brakes so I have no clue why the brake check still flashes.

Good to hear!! My brake light still flashes too, as does most peoples. Its supposed to tell you when a bulb is out by measuring the resistance along the brake light circuit, so when a bulb goes out the resistance changes. Newer bulbs have a different resistance than the ones in the early 90's so even though they are working properly, the ECU thinks a bulb is out because the resistance isn't right. Most people opt to remove the little warning light from the cluster because its annoying. Or just deal with it lol
