my brake light is on on the dash last time i added some brake fluid and it went away. its on again but now my brake lights dont work can low brake fluid cause this to happen on a 90 g50

Not really. It has more to do with the bulbs (OEM or Sylvania LL only!), the bulb sockets and wiring, then the control units.

What's the control unit, is that where the bulbs go?

No, it switches the lights on and off. Not familiar iwth early G50, so check you wiring diagram in the FSM.

hey thx fellas for your input problem was a melted socket on the assembly replaced it with used one and replaced bulbs with long life bulbs and brake light on dash went out after adding more brake fluid next will check for leak.

Check the Master cylinder and ABS unit under the hood for leaks first, if no leaks then pull the wheels and give the flex hoses, slave cylinder boots, bleeder screws and connections a good look. Any fluid leaks should be obvious.
