2002 PathfinderBrake lights will not come on when I hit the pedal, However top light still works. I went thru all the fuses, under the hood as well , bulbs are perfect. I looked at connections on the brake pedal seem to be functioning properly. What else could this be? I cant find a "box" referred to in another post.

Thanks in advance

Most likely candidate is the brake light switch. Just purchased a replacement switch, but can't figure out how to get the old one out. Very little room to get hands up in there and not sure if the switch must be unscrewed or if there's another trick to getting the old one out.

If your center brake light is working, then your Brake light switch on the brake pedal is functioning correctly. You need to check for power at the rear taillights. Hook up a Test Light in place of the rear taillight bulb and see if it lights up when you press the brake. Make sure you try both wires going to the brake light bulb as one is ground and the other is the power wire.

This may or may not be ant of ya'lls problem, but I just found out that the reason my Brake Lights won't go "off" is because of a Plastic Plug on the Brake pedal shaft... The plug fell out in pieces and the switch just goes thru the Hole on tha bracket...
