brake lights

2002 Pathfinder

Brake lights will not come on when I hit the pedal, However top light still works. I went thru all the fuses, under the hood as well , bulbs are perfect. I looked at connections on the brake pedal seem to be functioning properly.What else could this be? I cant find a "box" referred to in another post.Thanks in advance
