I desperately need some help, so anybody who is just gonna post "searc the forums" please skip this post. I have searched the forums and cant find my particular problem. My brake lights do not come on at all in my 1990 s13. Fuse is not blown, i replaced the switch a while back and that doesnt help, this must be a common problem, any help is appreciated.

skipping post....

HAHAHA, j/k.

Do you parking lights turn on at all?

Basically, here is one way to figure it out - you will need to use a multimeter and probe around the taillight housing connector to figure out which wire is causing the problem.

Have someone in the driver's seat.

Probe the connector - I believe it is 6 wires or so? - connected to the taillamp, you can disconnect the harness.

Find out which ones are ground.

Next, have the person turn on the parking lights. See which ones go positive.

Next have the person press the brakes - see if the last wires go positive

- if they do, then there is something wrong w/ the housing itself - commonly, the ground wire in teh housing fuses w/ the plastic and makes a "dirty" ground, which messes up your brake lights. Quick and easy way to fix this is to unscrew the ground, clean the terminal & plastic area, and screw back on.

- if they don't, then there is something wrong in your circuit, which you will have to consult an FSM and be prepared to have lots of fun tracing the wire!

Let me know if that helps.

Are you sure the fuse isn't blown? And did you make sure that the tail light bulbs weren't blown?
