What would cause my brake lights to stay on whenever I have the battery connected?

underthe dash by the brake pettle there will be a sensor and it has a little tap on it the tap prolly broke off and it will cause your brake lights to stay on its like 3 dollars from the dealership for a new tap

it may be the bulbs you're using. The brake lights have either one or two nipples on the end of hte bulbs, and hte sockets. But if you put a bulb with only one nipple in there, the brake lights come on and stay on, i know that much, hope this helps

Bingo. There were these new pieces of plastic laying on my carpet floor. Put them together and they made a cirlce...traced it up the brake pedal and I see where the tap should go. I'll stop by the nissan dealership tomorrow.
