Taillights work but none of the brakes do. Fuses look good, the brake pedal depresses whatever that switch is behind and above the pedal, and I think the grounds are good...are they the wires on the left-side trunk panel, behind the jack? Anything else I'm missing before I go looking for a short? I don't think its the bulbs, since all three lights decided to stop working...

And on a somewhat related note, are the side rear lights supposed to turn on for anything?

on the brake pedal there should be a sensor that gets depressed when the pedal is RELEASED that is your brake light switch. when you press the pedal it lets go of the switch and the lights turn on. check that switch its possible its bad, remove the switch and jumper the wires behind it (should be two) and the brakelights should turn on. if thats not the problem check that your getting power to one of those switch leads and check the continuity between that switch and the brake lights. there is a very simple schematic in the FSM that shows the brakelight circuit and the wire colors. you can download it from all over the net. hope this helps.
