Problem: Brake lights won't turn on

I have checked 2 things, fuse + bulbs. Both are still good, so I am thinking it is the switch underneath. Does anything look wrong from the pic? Which one is the brake switch and what is the other one?

The big problem is that when i checked the pedal...the little white probes dont hit anything. There are holes in the brake pedal where they look like they should touch. I dont understand how the switch is supposed to work if neither of them touch.

Is there anything else that could be causing my brake lights to fail? I could only think of these three things unless theres something wrong with wiring(i hope not).

Hope this helps:

but if i were missing a rubber stopper, then wouldnt my brake lights always be on? because the lights come on when the pedal is pushed and the probe moves out...

well i have the repair manual doesnt really say anything it just has pics and it has in the brake pedal - the top one is the stop lamp switch and bottom one is the ''ascd'' cancel switch ''automatic speed control device'' and on the clutch pedal there is the clutch interlock switch on top and a ascd cancel switch or a pedal stopper in the bottom so im guessing it might be one of those switches sorry i cant help u im just putting what it says in the book and its very confusing i only have a stop lamp switch but my car is an automatic

this is probably what you need: click here for the info i just duct-taped a quarter over mine and adjusted the sensor so the quarter doesn't slam into it, but merely depressed the plunger just so and doesn't damage the sensor itself.
