As the title says, my brake lights fail to work, and I dont know when this started happening, just found out last night.

1. Checked fuses and fuse box under the left side of the dash, theyre OK.

2. Checked bulbs, they work too.

3. When my headlights are on, the rear bulbs are on, as normal. Nothing changes when I depress the brake pedal.

According to Chilton's manual diagram, there is a set of switches under the driver's side of the dash, including the stop light switch. However, I cannot locate this as when I take a look under the dash, it represents nothing like the actual diagram.

If i could locate that little switch, it may very well solve my problem. Or can the problem be something else? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

yeah just follow the brake pedal all the way up to the switch. You will have to ly on your back in the floor board to see it.

You could do one more thing.

The brake pedal hits a small switch. This switch is at the top end of the pedal. There should be a small rubber bush that hits the switch. On my 90 204 Sx this was broken and hence I couldnt shift gears (its an automatic) and the brake lights were always on.

check to see if that switch works fine, I"m sure that is the switch the manual is talking about , hope that helps

i just bought the brake light switch and the little bushing that went with it for lie 4 bucks i guess this is a normal thing that breaks on the 240. I have a 90. the switch looks like a blue plug with a adjusting screw at the end of it lay on your back youll see it.

If your fuse keeps blowing, there is a bad bulb or a wire. One of my tail lights was burnt out and that was what made my fuse blow over and over again. Spend an afternoon and figure out whats wrong. Then replace the fuse.

for the fuse blowing allt he time... do youhave a lot of things hooked up to the brake wire??? that will do it since it is sucking ip more power than it can handle... but if not.. check all the wireing and see if you have a bad ground or power hitting something.. that usually will cause it

i don't have anything hookedup to the brake wire. i found out which swtich that wasn't working properly last nite and it turned out to be the one with the black plug, not blue plug. there was voltage in that wire and the fuse, but when i checked for voltage in the back (had brother step ont he brakes for me) there was no voltage. so yea, it turned out to be that one and i felt the switch kinda got jammed. finally got it working again by hitting the switch or something a few times, but i will want to replace it in the future. thanks guys for your help. :)
