yeah just check basic stuff.. bulbs, fuses..

if none of that is it.. check your brake light switch./pedal.. it's possible that when you push your pedal in, its not letting off the switch enough, and so ur brake lights are just staying off..

but do your rear lights work? or just brake lights?

if your rears work, but not break lights, definately check out what i said

Did it have a 5spd swap or was the ecu replaced with an auto ecu to remove the speed limiter? I've heard that these can also cause your problem.

I've never heard of the ECU or a 5 speed swap causing the brake lights to malfunction. The braking circuitry is completely separate of the ECU and ATCU circuits
