Brake Lights 1989 Maxima - I just replaced that small rubber snap-in button on the top of the brake pedal (it keeps the brake lights from staying on all of the time). Its the small rubber piece that meets and closes the brake light switch when you take your foot off the break pedal.

The brake lights worked fine for two days and now will not go on at all. I metered the brake switch and it checks out fine. The fuse is good (plus I tested by trying another fuse). There is power to one side of the brake light switch. Question: Is there a fusable link (1989 Maxima) in the brake light circuit? Or any other suggestions why there is no juice to the brake lights? I thought that I heard something "pop" or arc (one time) just to the right of the fuse panel (near driver's left knee).

I just wanted to know if there is a simple solution/suggestion. I tried checking out the wiring diagrams but started to go nuts.

All other lights operate fine.

Thanks to all.

you probably need to adjust the switch on the brake pedal
