Hey guys. thought I would come here first, before wasting alot more money than I need to at the auto shop. I recently took my car to get alligned, and it mysteriously comes out of this shady firestone without working brakelights.

My top horizontal brakelight in the rear window works fine. It's the two taillights that aren't operational. I'm working with a 1992 Q45 here. I have the service manual, and a small selection of tools.

What can I expect with this job, not having done alot of car work before? Is it easy enough to do with a small selection of tools and experience, or would I be wasting my time? Thanks for the help.

Welcome to our club!

First thing is to check bulbs and sockets and its wiring. Use only OEM or Sylvania LL (in a pinch). Bet they are original.

Several posts on this in Infiniti Online Mechanic.

Read the brake light threads, and found it amusing that others had the same problem after leaving firestone for an allignment. "Probably the bulbs" they say, my ***.

Looks like I need to look up getting some parts. Does anyone have a good Q source for picking up the brake swtich/sensor at the top of the pedal? Or the brake lamp socket assembly? I doubt I will need them, but is there also a online OEM bulb retailer?

The closest infiniti dealership to me is an hour away, not a trip to take without brake lights. There is a Nissan dealership nearby, I'm not sure if they would be able to help me in obtaining these though.
