I have a 2006 infiniti m45 sport. We bought it and it had the brake light on. A couple of weeks later I was messing with the little switch next to the seat warmers on the console. I clicked the switch and the brake light went off. It recently went back on without anyone touching the switch! I have taken it to several places now and they say nothing is wrong. I don't know what else to do. The closes infiniti place is 3 hours away. Help, please.

Presumably you are referring to the "Brake" light in the dash and not an actually brake light on the rear. Also, presumably the "little switch" you are referring to is not stock. It sounds to me like that little switch is probably an improperly performed "NAV Hack". Improperly performed is key, the "NAV Hack" can be done without causing this side effect. When performed improperly, it can cause the light to come on even though the parking brake is not pressed. However, the light might still work correctly when the "NAV Hack" is turned off, so make sure the parking brake pedal is disengaged and all the way up. Once that is confirmed, if the light stays on regardless of what position the little switch is in, you probably need to research the "NAV Hack" and undo it, because it implies something is loose or bad. Specifically, the end of a wire that isn't supposed to be grounded by the hack that causes the light to come on is either permanently grounded in this installation, but loose, allowing the light to turn off when you messed with the switch once, or the hack is grounding that end of the wire with the switch in a certain position, which would be consistent unless the switch was bad or something else was grounding the wire sometimes as well.

I remember when I first tried the NAV hack myself and was a little nervous about splicing into the factory wires. I tested it out right after my "install" and I had the same situation as OP described. I had to take everything apart and found that one of my splices had come loose. So I bought better connectors and then also put heat shrink on it to keep things tight.

Laurie, you should start by taking apart the middle console and look to see if any of the wires to that middle switch are loose or disconnected.
Otherwise, you/someone is going to have to check to see if one of the connections from the NAV unit is loose. The NAV unit is in the glovebox.
A little time consuming to take out, but not difficult. You will have a better idea of what was involved if you follow what Dustin suggests, search NAV hack.

Folks did this hack so that they could use some of the functions that are grayed out and not available while the vehicle is in motion (understandable in this day of distracted drivers). It lets someone, presumably not the driver, input addresses into the NAV system while the vehicle is moving.
