Hello all, long time lurker posting for the first time. I have an issue with my 00 Path SE. The brake light switch went bad and was stuck with the brake lights on causing the plug to the switch and related wiring insulation to overheat and melt. My sister was using it and didn't complain about the smell until I saw her yesterday.

Of course it's my fault somehow. Apparently the brake light fuse went bad sometime ago and I did the idiotic/moronic/completely irresponsible/never to be done again "fix" of wrapping some cable around the fuse thing causing the wiring to melt in the fist place.

I tested the circuit and it's good, the brake lights go on and off normally when the wires meet. The melted part is the one just above the connector. I tried to splice new wiring in but had absolutely no way to get to the wires that hide deep up near the steering shaft.

I got a replacement switch and want to trace the wires up to run new wires but I can't find where they go. I removed the lower dash panel and the gauge cluster surround but still cant find the wires!

Anyone have a wiring diagram of the brake/cruise control pedal switches? I hate giving cops excuses to pull me over for no reason.

***EDIT*** I found the diagrams in the FSM. The color codes are R/B for the incoming, G/Y for the outgoing signal. I'm guessing the question is where can I intercept the wires to run the new ones?

Could you post a photo of the melted wiring in question? It's a little difficult to visualize.
