Alright, so when the car's turned off, the brake lights are still on. I found out that the switch was causing this problem. Now, I don't know why it's doing it, but my roommate messed around with it and got it to temporarily shut off, but it came on again.

Is it an adjustment issue? If so, how do I go about fixing it as I tried hitting, pushing and it didn't work.

the switch is probably shorted to where its constantly on. If you unplug the switch the lights should go off. If not then there is a short elsewhere. its probably the switch.
