Alright...my brake lights won't go off...ever.

I have to take the battery off every time im not driving...it sucks.

So i bought a new brake light switch, but i can't get the old one off.

If anyone has done this can you tell me how u got it off...i'm at the point where i think it might be impossible without removing 8,000 other things

Thanks!!

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING READ THIS!

it would help for you to use a crow's foot wrench to get on it.

you should remove the switch right next to it first.

You're brake light switch under the dash has two nuts on it you lossing one up and then the other, then there is a connector that needs to come off, after that replace it wit the new one and set the lentgth to where you want it cause the nuts set the switch at the possition to where you want the brake pedal to be when the lights go off, k, but you can also have different problems so if they still dont work after you replace the switch then keep goingdown the line of troubleshooting this problem but hopefully that helps, and its a pain cause the car is so small that the space to get to the switch makes it fustrating, any more problems let me know i'll keep an eye on this post for a while ok

Good luck!

Hi. Not sure if you were able to figure this out. You probably have by now. I was having the same issue. AND having to disconnect my battery. It turned out to be the rubber stopper on the brake pedal had broken and fallen out. I tried using a generic rubber plug but the switch button just pressed through it. I have now ordered the exact rubber stopper and will try it.

Yeah those brake switch stoppers can be a PITA. $5.00 part causing all those problems. Even made my buddy think somebody was in his car when he saw the brake lights on... :ohno: Go to Nissan and get the original part. I had to replace mine in the 240 and Corolla.
