ok so I'm having problems with my 92 nissan 240sx. The car will turn over, and start sometimes then other times it just won't but all the lights in the car comes on. I thought it was the starter, and changed it start but then didn't. So we tightened the battery terminals then the car started consistently time after time. Then about 2 hours llater car would not start so i gave up. woke up this morning tighten starter then it started. you have to turn the key a few times before the car actually starts. then after a few tries i smell gas. any idea whats going on anyone? it's the holidays and i need my car!

Battery light and e-brake light on dash usually means dead battery.

you think it's the alternator because the battery tested good?

Yeah, alternator could be allowing the battery to drain while its running. I've ran into the battery having enough to turn the engine over but not crank. I'd take off the alt and get it checked. Or just charge the battery first to see if it cranks when its fully charged.
