Ok so long story short, im new here with a problem. My wife has a 2010 altima. We have had the car for a little over a year. We are having the dreaded starting issue. Our problem seems to be in the break. From time to time, the break doesnt want to depress making it hard to start. The other day, i had to press as hard as i could to get the break to register enough to get it to start. My question is this the brake light sensor issue, or something else? Not gonna pay the dealership something i can install my self. If it is the brake sensor, what is this sub harness this tech is talking about in this post: http://www.justanswer.com/nissan/6za7d- ... press.html

Your brake switch may be the issue the part is not very expensive but labor depends on the dealer.

What about the sub harness that was mentioned in the link i posted? Want to make sure i get the right stuff. Is it an aftermarket part, or do i have to purchase from dealer?

I work at a Nissan dealership in parts and our service dept replaces them maybe a few times a month and I have never passed out our have been asked for a sub harness the only other part you may need would possibly be the rubber grommet behind the brake pedal.
